“There is always, always, something to be thankful for.” ~ Unknown
I’m starting the new year with gratefulness, thanking Jesus for all He has encouraged me through in this last year. There was a lot of healing for me this past year, and God stretched me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’m so thankful for the lessons He put in front of me and the path He challenged me to take, even though they were painful.
I am learning that having a heart of gratitude, no matter your circumstances, is the pathway to living the abundant life.
Today, this first day of a new year, I’m praising God in advance for all that He has planned for me in the year ahead. I have confidence that He has great things in store for me, because I know He is a good good Father and I can always trust Him, in the joyful times and in the sad ones too. My assurance comes from knowing that He has promised to never leave my side, but to walk with me all the days of my life (Hebrews 13:5-6).

My “New Years resolution” is to live more courageously, finding my security in Christ alone. One way for me to do this is to make thankfulness a lifestyle. I’m asking the Lord to fill my heart daily with gratitude in the coming year, no matter my circumstances. I know it won’t always be easy, but I also know that I can trust in the Lord with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding. And as long as I acknowledge Him in all my ways, He will set my path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
May thankfulness become a way of living for you as well, and may Jesus fill your heart daily with gratitude in the coming year.
A blessed 2019 to you as you reflect on all the blessings you have received, and as you prepare your heart to be grateful in the year ahead. ️
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Great reminder Tweeny. Keep the great thoughts coming. I’m grateful for your commitment to this blog!
I love this, Mom! Such a powerful mindset shift as we enter the new year — to “praise God in advance for all that He has planned for me in the year ahead.” Praising Him right now for that… Thank you for your faithful writing that both challenges and encourages. <3
