“You are never too dry or too empty for God to completely replenish you.” ~ Joanna Weaver
Today is the last day of the year, and to be completely honest with you, I find myself feeling spiritually exhausted. How about you? Are you, like me, looking at another year ending and wondering why your prayers seem unheard? Does your soul feel weary? If the answer is yes, please know that you’re not alone.
Are you weary from hope deferred, still believing for a breakthrough in your dreams, only to feel as though the promise is still far off?
Here are some practical steps you can take to find hope for your weary soul. The first step in finding encouragement when you are feeling spiritually worn out is to be real with yourself and God about how you are feeling. Tell God how the weight of unmet expectations have left you feeling drained. It’s good, even healthy, to be completely raw and honest with your heavenly Father. Because God sees your heart, you can safely confess to Him how fatigued you are. He welcomes such authenticity from His children.
The first step in finding hope for your weary soul is to acknowledge the reality of your weariness.
After you’ve spent some quality time in prayer, acknowledging the reality of your weariness to your Abba Father, the next thing would be to find scriptures that give you hope. We can always lean on the truth of God’s Word to revive and nourish our tired hearts. You may want to read my blog post, “13 Bible Verses To Give You Hope During Tough Times” to help you. The truth is, nothing can comfort like the Word of God. We, however, have to do our part and believe, by faith, that these promises are true and written for you.
Speak God’s truth over your situation. Believe that His Word is alive and active, capable of breathing fresh hope into your weary soul.
The truth is, God’s Word is powerful and it is the ultimate source of hope for your weary soul. Practice declaring and decreeing, out loud, His promises over your life, trusting in His faithfulness.
Step three is possibly the most important remedy for your weary soul-never give up. I say this often, and I will keep saying it, but the miracle we are praying for could be right around the corner. The enemy of our soul, Satan, works overtime to snatch hope from us. The truth is God is a good and faithful God and He has our very best in mind. I know it gets hard, when every year we are asking God the same request, believing He will fulfill our heart’s desires. A deep exhaustion settles in when faithfulness in prayer is met with a persistent lack of change. It’s critical that you don’t give up, and instead hold on to Galatians 6:9, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Guard your heart with whatever energy you have left. Call a brother or sister to help you persevere.
Do not give the enemy a foothold by letting him use your weariness to steal your hope in a big and mighty God.
Weariness isn’t a sin. It’s a human limitation. I find it comforting to remember that my tiredness isn’t a sign of failure or lack of faith. These days, I’m learning to rest in God’s love for me. May you do the same. He tells us, in Jeremiah 31:25, “ For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.””
As this year draws to a close, remember that an unanswered prayer is not a forgotten one. The Lord is still writing your story, and every ending is just a quiet doorway into His next chapter for you. As we step into a new year. let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, our ultimate source of hope.
A very blessed new years to you. May you be held by the God of Hope.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”~ Romans 15:13

This is so good Tweeny. I specifically like this:
“ Weariness isn’t a sin. It’s a human limitation.”
This can move us from shame to understanding and be encouraged.
thank you
