Make A Spiritual Nest And Enrich Your Relationship With God

“Do you have a favorite place to pray? A place where you get better reception? A place where your mind is more focused? A place where you have more faith?” ~ Mark Batterson

In order to have a more effective quiet time with God, it is important to have a specific place where you can spend uninterrupted, more focused time with Him.

Your relationship with God can be enriched by making a spiritual nest.

Having a special area to read your Bible and pray can make the difference between you having a good relationship with Christ, or a more intimate one.

Do you have a special spot, a room, a chair, a couch where you can get away from everyone and be alone with God? A place where you can be more focused, more still? Do you have an area in your home that you feel comfortable talking, crying and/or laughing with God?

Do you have a a spiritual nest?

If you do not, I encourage you to make it a priority to intentionally create one.

Jesus encourages it as well. In Matthew 6:6, He says, “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private…”

Creating a unique nook for yourself is really just a mindset. You don’t have to literally close yourself into a room. It really means designing a place of isolation where you can shut out the world and have quality time with the Lord.

There is something very beautiful and powerful about when we, like a bird, can have a nest to call “home.” A spiritual nest isn’t so much a home, but rather a feeling of being at home with Jesus.

My spiritual nest is a big comfy chair in my front room. Next to this chair I keep my Bible, my journal, pens, highlighters, my devotionals, and my prayer books.

Every morning, after I get my coffee, I settle into my comfy chair and spend time with my best friend, Jesus.

Spending time with God in a special, set apart place will help you minimize distractions, communicate more clearly, and grow your relationship with Him.

Make this special place your own. Light some candles. Play soft worship music. Find a quiet park if you love the outdoors. It doesn’t have to look the same for everyone; do what you need to quiet your heart and create a comfortable atmosphere.

Spending quality time with God is critical to our spiritual, emotional, mental and physical well being. Discipline yourself to spend time daily with Him. Having a cozy, inviting place to sit in will help you tremendously.

Leave me a comment on where your spiritual nest is, if you have one. If you don’t have a spiritual nest, where do you plan on creating one?

“Abraham got up early that morning and hurried out to the place where he had stood in the Lord’s presence.” ~ Genesis 19:27

Hello Tweeny! Jesus brought salvation to me when I was in my bedroom with the door closed – it has become my spiritual nest! I didn’t realize it was until reading your message. Thank you for sharing the Scripture on how important this place is! The Lord keeps working through you dear sister! Love you.
